Life Fitness has appointed Jim Pisani as its new chief executive officer.

He replaces Paul Stoneham, who took over as CEO from Chris Clawson in November 2021. Stoneham will transition to the Life Fitness board as a senior advisor.

Pisani has spent more than 25 years in the global outdoor, recreation and sports apparel sector.

His previous roles include global president of Timberland, where he led the growth of a diverse brand portfolio that included Timberland, Timberland PRO, Kodiak, Terra and Dickies.

Pisani also served as President of VF Licensed Sports Group, where he oversaw the uniform and apparel licenses for Major League Baseball (MLB), as well as the apparel licenses for the National Football League (NFL, National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

He joins the Life Fitness from goods giant Newell Brands, where he was CEO for the group's outdoor and recreation business.

Pisani will take over the responsibility for operations at the commercial fitness equipment company, which is looking to grow its presence across the global fitness market.

"I'm excited to partner with our team to execute on the company's next phase of growth," Pisani said.

"We'll continue to deliver on our industry-leading reputation for quality and innovation to provide exceptional products and excellent service levels to our customers."

The company's portfolio of commercial and consumer fitness equipment brands includes Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, Cybex, ICG, and SCIFIT.

Life Fitness is a portfolio company of KPS Capital Partners a family of investment funds with approximately US$12.7 billion of assets under management.

Life Fitness was founded by Augie Nieto and Ray Wilson‎ in 1977.
