New book explains the global spa industry

A new textbook on the global spa industry, featuring contributions from some of the biggest names in the international spa industry, is now available for purchase.

Understanding the Global Spa Industry: Spa Management is the first volume in a planned series of books, edited by Marc Cohen, foundation professor of complementary medicine at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, and Gerard Bodeker, senior faculty member in public health at Oxford University.

The book - ISBN 978-0-7506-8464-4 - comprises chapters by 30 internationally renowned business leaders, practitioners and academics from 10 countries, investigating industry practices and trends from economic, social and business perspectives.

Topics range from the history of the spa industry to benchmarking, business plans and feasibility, as well as design, development and operations. Also covered are branding, retail and product development, as well as environmental issues, human resource management, education and ethics.

The book is produced in hardback and costs £34.99 (US$61.95, €50.95). Containing 496 pages, it comes fully illustrated.
