New York fragrance brand Le Labo has opened a boutique within the Liberty store in London.
It will be exclusive to the UK and the largest such in Europe, joining the company's flagship store in New York and a recently opened concession in Colette, Paris.
The company offers a unique service in that its perfumes are made to order, the essential oil concentrates within them remaining separate from the alcohol right up to the moment of purchase.
Le Labo explains that this is designed to allow the composition to stay fresh and retain the fullness of its fragrance.
Once formulated, the perfume is then bottled and labelled with its name and the date to which it remains fresh. For bespoke gift purposes, a personal message can be added to the label. The company will also ship products to a recipient if required.
The 10 fragrances consist of three masculine, three feminine, three unisex and one for babies. The 10 perfumes - all from Grasse, France - are bergamote, rose, vetiver, neroli, fleur d'oranger, patchouli, jasmin, iris, labdanum and ambrette, their names giving a clue as to how they are formulated. As an example, Fleur d'Oranger 27 reveals that the perfume is made up of a total of 27 ingredients with natural orange blossom as its key essence.
Most can be obtained in perfume, balm, lotion and oil variants.
In addition to the fragrances a range of scented candles is available. These work on the principle of the creation of a 'fragrance mushroom', caused by the special wax blends and the high volume of custom-blended fragrances and essential oils used in their manufacture.
Presented in a 1lb glass container, each 8.6oz/245g candle comprises 100 per cent soy blends and is completely hand made.
Scents available include Anis 24, Calone 17, Cedre 11, Figue 15, Petit Grain 21, Pin 12 and Santal 26.
