Protecting both planet and people: Davines Group releases new sustainability report

Davines Group has unveiled its annual Sustainability Report for 2020-2021, presenting the group’s activities through the results obtained in 2020 and the goals set for 2021, describing its commitment to sustainability in relation to three different areas: Planet, People and Community.

With regards to the Planet category, the goal is to continue to develop a business with a positive impact.

As part of this, the Davines Group is already working alongside other certified B Corporations to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2030.

During 2020, the Davines Group reached the following goals:

Decarbonization
  • 43 per cent reduction of CO2 emissions 2020, compared to the previous year. In 2020, the Davines Group reduced its Scope 1+ 2 CO2 emissions by 369.6 tons.

Circularity
  • 0 per cent production of waste disposed of into landfills – all waste generated by the production plant is sent for recycling or recovery through waste-to-energy process

  • 631 tons of plastic saved since 2014 – Davines is passionate about reducing the quantity of material used for its product packaging

  • 60.5 per cent of packaging is made from recycled material (paper, cardboard, plastic, and glass)
  • 59 per cent of packaging is recycled or bio-based plastic

  • In 2020 the Davines Group further reduced the percentage of virgin plastic packaging, out of the total plastic packaging, by 3.6 per cent.

Biodiversity
  • 73 per cent highly biodegradable ingredients used in product formulas.

Davines Group’s strategy for the Community section includes a particularly ambitious project: the B Corp Beauty Coalition.

This is a collaboration between certified B Corporations in the cosmetics sector, created with the aim of promoting a systemic, lasting change in the beauty industry by improving its sustainability standards through collective actions.

Regarding People (the Davines Group collaborators), we’re constantly striving to improve diversity and inclusion, while always focusing on happiness and wellbeing for all through everyday activities and dedicated programmes.

“Behaving like a big family and supporting each other without losing sight of the corporate objectives of results and impact has allowed us to continue growing as a company and community”, commented Davide Bollati.

The 2020-2021 Sustainability Report is available in full at this link.
