SON.hyx is a new high performance crystal glass which is to be introduced across all the Luigi Bormioli glassware ranges, commencing with the Magnifico collection.

The new material - together with new manufacturing technology - is said by UK distributor, John Artis, to have enabled the creation of a stylish fine crystal glassware of great clarity and sonority, coupled with much greater strength than has previously been available with glass of this quality.

The strength of the rim is reported to be improved by 35 per cent and resistance to twisting of the stem is 98 per cent higher. Tests have also shown SON.hyx to have a very high resistance to industrial washing.

A feature of the Magnifico stemware is its large capacity bowls, up to 85cl - or more than a full bottle.

They are designed to enhance the tasting experience, particularly of full bodied, robust wines. The large bowl and narrow rim have been designed to develop and retain the 'nose' whilst its extensive surface area increases oxygenation.
