Taking control of hand drying

Supplier of hygiene products Kimberly-Clark Professional has launched a new campaign focusing on different hand drying facilities and the impact they can have on the efficient running of washrooms in leisure facilities.

Called ‘Take Control of Poor Hand Drying’, the initiative is primarily intended to alert managers of high-traffic sites such as stadiums, airports and theatres to the benefits of paper towels in their washroom and toilet areas.

Kimberly-Clark Professional category manager Richard Millard said: “High-traffic site operators have often been told that electric hand dryers are the most hygienic way for people to dry their hands after washing them. The reality, however, could not be more different. Paper towels are quick and effective, easy for people to dispose of after use, and easy to restock. Air dryers and linen towels, conversely, result in long queues, wet floors and – ultimately – unhappy customers who might think twice about coming to a site again.”

Millard also explained that Kimberly-Clark Professional has taken a number of steps recently to address sustainability issues, as many site operators are increasingly concerned about the environment. One example given was the Airflex fabric used on the Scott Xtra Hand Towels range, which requires 15 per cent less fibre than a standard fabric and helps reduce waste placed in the bin by up to 28 per cent.

As Millard concluded: “The use of Airflex fabric means operators no longer need to compromise. These towels offer excellent performance, are produced with care for the environment and, above all, will help managers of high traffic areas provide very high quality hand hygiene facilities for all visitors.”
