The Riptide Fitness Centre in Brighton is reported to be the first gym in the UK to display Mindball®.

An experience product, Mindball is a game where two players control a ball with their brain waves. These are detected by sensors attached to headbands, with the sensors being connected to a biosensor system.

This system registers the electrical activity in the brain - shown on a diagram on an adjacent monitor -the brain waves increasing the chance to win the game being called Alpha and Theta and which occur when a person is calm and relaxed.

The winner of the game is the most relaxed player, making the ball roll into his opponent's goal purely by using brain power.

The game was claimed to be a great addition to Riptide's 10th birthday party on 26 October and Mindball's makers are hoping that the game - which can also be used by one player - will be a feature in gyms in the near future.

UK distributor, Sean Gough says: “The player has to actively relax in order to make progress. This is something that needs training and can be improved with regular practice.”

Tania Mattiocco, Riptide Marketing Manager and Party Organiser, commented: “There are only three Mindball games in the UK. Two are in science museums and we feel very privileged that the third was here to celebrate this occasion with us.”
