The new Natural Beverage Company launches Fruit Hit this month, its first range and the first smoothie in the UK to carry the FAIRTRADE mark.
Fruit Hit is created using the latest cold aseptic technology, where the smoothie is gently pasteurised and then bottled in sterile conditions, resulting in a product with a six month shelf life and one which can be stored at ambient temperatures.
Available in three flavours - Mango & Orange, Pineapple & Passion Fruit and Blueberry Blend - Fruit Hit retails in a 330ml clear, recyclable bottle. The company says that the specific nature of the fruit blends and larger bottle size means that the smoothies deliver two of the recommended '5-a-day' portions of fruit and vegetables.
The Natural Beverage Company, which is led by Leonard van Geest, sources its Fairtrade fruit through AgroFair, its supply partner. Agrofair ensure that the growers receive the guaranteed price premium that the Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO) independently determines as a fair reflection of the real costs of producing a quality crop.
Fruit Hit features Fairtrade certified bananas from Ecuador, pineapples from Costa Rica, mangoes from Peru and oranges from Argentina. It has been developed with 100 per cent natural fruit with no added sugars, preservatives, colours or flavourings.
