Oventrop valves have been chosen for the heating and cooling systems at the new Monart Spa in southern Ireland.
The country's first purpose-built destination spa, it's located in over 100 acres of private woodland just outside Enniscorthy in County Wexford and comprises 70 luxury bedrooms and a 2400sq m state-of-the-art spa for residents and day guests.
The adults only destination, a Griffin Group development, is centred around Monart House, a three-storey listed country home with links to the Jameson distillery family.
The heating/cooling systems serve the old Monart House, a glass covered link to a glass reception area and two further covered links.
These connect with a 2-storey high curved bedroom block in one direction and a garden lounge, café, restaurant and spa reception area in the other. In this section there are 14 private treatment rooms, changing rooms, a gymnasium, aerobics room, mani/pedi rooms, retail centre and a hair salon. The link continues to the spa block which contains a thermal spa with nine individual thermal treatments including a 55sq m hydrotherapy pool.
Heating for all these areas is provided through LPHW circuits served by two 1325 kW LPG gas-fired boilers, with all the boiler and ancillary valves in the plant room being supplied by Oventrop.
Perimeter heat losses throughout the building are offset by a weather compensated radiator heating system with all 150 radiators controlled by motorised 2-port valves and Oventrop lockshields.
Twenty trench heaters with roll-up grilles are fitted in the reception floor and the glazed link corridor between the reception and existing house. Ten airside 4-pipe fan coil units are installed on the reception area roof and feed tempered air to the reception area and the hair salon through concealed ductwork.
Eight 950ltr capacity calorifiers supplying hot water at 60 degrees C. are located throughout the building to provide DHW to the two floors of bedrooms, private treatment rooms, thermal spa, Monart House, kitchens and changing rooms.
An air-cooled screw chiller rated at 393kW is sited in an outdoor enclosure to serve the cooling duties.
