The new 478sq m luxury spa will include eight treatment rooms – two of them being the first ever to be situated underwater – offering both a range of treatments and a relaxing view of the surrounding sealife.

Per Aquum Resorts & Spas, which owns and manages Huvafen Fushi, has also based its body treatments on water.

It says it has created its treatments using natural tonics and lotions made purely by using fresh seawater, sea plants and minerals.

Using the Elemis range, treatments will include aromatherapy, body scrubs, a wide range of massages and face and eye renewals will all be available for Hufaven Fushi customers.

To accompany the spa experience, the resort has opened Raw, a restaurant serving uncooked food that promises to “repair, re-energise and build a stronger body.”

Spa cuisine has expanded rapidly to become one of the fastest growing concepts in the restaurant sector.

Per Aquum will attempt to capture this market at Huvafen Fushi, by offering organic vegetarian food, which contains no sugars or saturated fat and has no artificial ingredients.

A spokesperson for the spa said: “The resort will open in May and some of the complex is still under construction.”

“Our Ocean Bungalows will feature a living area with a glass floor looking down on the marine life below. This area can be transformed into a spa treatment area for in-room treatments”, she said.
