Huxley's all-weather tee turf for Wentworth

The Wentworth Club, home of the HSBC World Match Play Championship and the BMW Championship, has chosen Huxley Golf's new Premier Tee Turf 2 high performance all-weather tee turf to enhance the facilities on its practice range.

Huxley Premier Tee Turf 2 (or PTT2) is a top quality all-weather turf designed specifically for use as a low wear, low maintenance alternative or replacement for natural turf on golf course tees, practice tees and ranges.

A key feature is claimed to be its exceptional fibre density, removing the need to use a silica-type filler to pack the spaces between the fibres. The result is a very low maintenance surface that can also accept a standard tee peg, allowing a full range of golf shots to be played directly from the surface or from a tee peg pushed into the pile.

Because it requires no filler, PTT2 is relatively straightforward to install making it suitable for installation by golf club greenkeeping staff, with guidance from Huxley Golf. The surface can also be lifted for cleaning, for rotation to help spread the wear or for eventual replacement.

To spread the wear and allow plenty of space for ball placement, the minimum recommended width of a Huxley PTT2 installation is 12ft (3.66m). Overall length will depend on the application.

A typical practice tee could measure a minimum 12ft (3.66m) wide by 60ft (18.3m), 72ft (21.9m) or 84ft (25.6m) long. An all-weather golf course tee would measure a minimum 12ft (3.66m) wide by 12ft (3.66m) long, although greater lengths are recommended to help spread the wear across the surface.
