GuocoLand Malaysia has announced plans for the new RM48bn (US$15.1bn, EUR12.1bn, £9.8bn) Sepang International City scheme across the southern corridor of Selangor.
The project is one of the largest in Malaysia and will span 4,000 acres (1,619 hectares), with the seafront development to contain leisure, commercial and residential uses among others.
A large urban park modelled on Central Park in New York City, US, is also proposed and it is expected that more than 500,000 people will live and work within the new city.
GuocoLand Malaysia managing director Yeow Wai Siaw said the development would act as a catalyst for further growth in Sepang and the surrounding region.
"Sepang International City is destined to be a model city of the future, not only in Malaysia but in this region," he said.
