Tech sportswear enables body heat to be transformed into infrared energy for recovery

Kymira infrared technology-enabled sportswear uses Celliant’s textiles, which contain thermo-reactive minerals and trace elements. These are either embedded into the yarn or applied directly to the fabric, enabling body heat to be transformed into infrared energy. The effect on muscle tissue is increased capillarisation and nitric oxide production which supports athletes in performing at a higher level for longer, by benefiting from improved recovery, oxygen levels, pain relief and thermoregulation.
In the US, Celliant products are considered to be medical devices – according to section 201(h) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act – and in Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, New Zealand and Japan are designated as a class 1 medical device.
Professional rugby player Jonny May – who's won the Six Nations title three times during his 72-cap career in the England team – has recently become a brand ambassador for Kymira. He will be using its new activewear range, the Legacy Project, for both training and recovery, while aiming for selection for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which starts in September.
