Contactless technology is used – ensuring reliable operation in humid environments – and either intelligent wristbands or smart cards. A combination of the two can also be used, giving the operator greater flexibility on how to use the system.

The turnstiles are motor driven, which makes them more user friendly than conventional manually operated ones, and they can be set up to collect the visitors wristband on exit thereby reducing the cost of lost wristbands.

The system also can be programmed to prevent visitors from leaving if they have exceeded their allocated time period, or if they have borrowed something and have not returned it.

In addition, if the cashless vending feature has been used, the turnstile will prevent a visitor from departing if they owe any money. Similarly, if the facility is using the Metra locker control system, the turnstile will prevent a visitor from leaving if they have left their locker locked, preventing visitors from ‘hogging’ lockers.
