Designed by water conservation specialists, Elemental Solutions and available through Green Building Store, the new Airflush™ system involves a low energy electric fan sending a flow of air down a hygienically designed bowl to produce an odourless answer to an old problem.

Water bills and consumable and maintenance costs for operators can be reduced and the special design of the bowl makes for easy cleaning.

Both the National Trust and the Forestry Commission have appreciated the waterless benefits of the new system. The NT’s Ightham Mote property is off mains drainage and a reduction of the load on the site’s septic tank was a prime consideration.

The Forestry Commission – a number of whose sites also have off-mains water supply and drainage – saw an added benefit from the reduction of water pipe work as it helped to frost-proof its mainly unheated public conveniences.
