Neptune Benson has announced that it provided the disinfection and filtration equipment at the 2016 US Swim Trials.
The trials, which were held in Omaha, Nebraska, are one of the most important events in the country’s swimming calendar, determining qualification for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Neptune Benson’s Defender filter and ETS-UV disinfection products ensured the two temporary pools – a 10-lane competition pool and an eight-lane warm-up pool – were in perfect condition for the athletes. The custom-designed event pools were created by Myrtha Pools.
The Swim Trials, which ended yesterday (3 July), decided the 45-strong team, which will include 30 first-time Olympians as well as some of the sport’s best-known faces, including Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky.
“This event and the facility it is conducted in are special in multiple ways,” said Ken Rodi, president of Neptune Benson. “The pools were built from the ground up specifically for the Swim Trials. Despite their temporary nature, everything from design to water quality has to be top-notch in order to ensure the conditions are right for peak swim times and performance.”
“Our partner, Spear Corporation, installed Defender Regenerative Media Filters and ETS-UV Disinfection Systems on pre-made skids so they could be easily installed for this event, then removed once the competition is complete,” Rodi said.
