Aedas complete Kirklees leisure refurbishment

Aedas has overseen the refurbishment of the Colne Valley Leisure Centre in Slaithwaite near Huddersfield.
Launched by Olympic athlete Emily Freeman in February, the centre in Kirklees, West Yorkshire includes a new 50-station fitness suite, new changing rooms and refurbished pool hall.
The development was a joint project between the local council and leisure trust. Kirklees Council invested £1.3 million into the scheme and Kirklees Active Leisure, which manages the council’s sports centres and pools, built and equipped a new fitness suite costing £500,000.
The project was carried out in two phases, with the dryside reopening in September 2008. This included a new fitness suite with Technogym equipment and public viewing area along with a refurbished sports hall, changing rooms, function suite and foyer.
The pool building was then closed for a complete makeover. It now boasts a new reception area and changing rooms with individual showers, new ventilation system and pumps for better air and water temperature and general redecoration and tiling.
